EPLAN Recommendations

• Restart the PC you want to install so that Windows is up to date.
• Your Windows account used to log in must have local administrators assigned rights.
• Your firewall and virus scanners do not block the installation process.

Hint:

Symbol libraries, function definitions, templates and other master data are regularly extended by EPLAN. You have 2 options for how to process or handle the master data when updating the EPLAN Platform to a newer version.

Option 1:

• Use the same target directory specification for the system master data (e.B.: <drive>:\<folder path>\EPLAN\Data\Global) and update the old master data to the one provided with the new version. Your own master data, if you have used your own names for your master data, remain.
• Your advantage, no double data storage. Projects created with a previous version retain your master data as long as you do not consciously update the master data.

Option 2:

• Use a new directory specification (e.B. with version number of the platform) for the system master data provided with the new version.

• Note that parts of your self-created master data with the previous version, e.B macros, images, documents and templates, may have to be copied to the new data directory.

Example: <Drive>:\<Folder Path>\EPLAN\Data\2022\Forms\XYZ\[XYZ]_FN1_001_V02.fn1" > copy to > <drive>:\<folder path>\EPLAN\Data\2023\Plotframes\XYZ\[XYZ]_FN1_001_V02.fn1"

Install

1. Unzip the EPLAN download file (.zip) locally on your PC at the desired location.
2. Run the "Setup.exe" with the right mouse button "Run as administrator".
3. Select the program variant to be installed, confirm the selection with [Next].
4. Confirm license agreements.
5. Define the desired target directories for the EPLAN program files, master data (original master data and system master data), settings, company ID and select the required unit of measurement.
   • Please note the note under "EPLAN Recommendations" on the 2 possibilities of directory information!
6. Make sure that all program components are selected.
7. Make sure that all master data types are selected.
8. Select the interface language(s) and select the enabled language.
9. Select [Install].
